Belarus foes on ILO black list

The International Labour Organization has condemned the violations of trade union rights in Belarus.

This comes from the chairman of the Belarusian congress of independent trade unions Aliaksandr Jarashuk, BelaPAN reports.

Belarus has again been put under the special paragraph by the International Labour Organization as a country, where trade union rights are violated. This is the result of the sitting of the ILO’s Committee on norms and standards in the framework of the organization’s 103th session in Geneva.

“That Belarus has been put under the special paragraph for the seventh time is an absolutely natural outcome, which has been very painfully taken by our government, - Aliaksandr Jarashuk said. – Apparently, they hoped for a different outcome, considering that there was an ILO contact mission in Minsk in January, which produced a report and an action plan to improve the situation over the rights of workers and trade unions”.

The International Labour Organization has been speaking of trade union rights violations in Belarus for several years already.
