Yury Dankov waits for transfer to Mahilou correctional facility No. 15

The former owner of Dankoff Club, Yury Dankov, waits for the transfer to correctional facility No. 15 in Mahilou.

Radio Svaboda has learnt it from Natallia Dankova, the wife of the convicted businessman.

“My husband is held in the detention facility in Valadarski Street. He can be transferred to correctional facility in Mahilou on any day. I want him to be transferred there as soon as possible. It will be easier there. Maybe he will get a job there. It's difficult if you have absolutely nothing to do,” Natallia Dankova said.

After the court proceedings, which ended last December, Yury Dankov was held in a detention facility in Zhodzina. He said confinement conditions were “very strict”.

Minsk's Maskouski district court found Yury Dankov guilty of a number of economic crimes and running a brothel. He was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment. The Minsk city court upheld the decision in May. The businessman didn't admit his guilt and said he fell a victim of the reparation of the gambling market. According to Dankov, the Minsk police acted against him on the order of foreign investors. Natallia Dankova says the decision of the Minsk city court would be appealed against in a higher court.
