Swastika drawn in National Cultures Avenue in Hrodna

Vandals defaced signs in the avenue of trees that was planted during the National Cultures Festival in Hrodna.

A swastika was drawn on the sign near the tree that was planted by representatives of the Jewish community. Andrei Krot, a Greek Catholic priest, was the first to notice the act of vandalism. He posted a photo on his Facebook page.

This is not the first time when fascist and anti-Semitic symbols and inscriptions have appeared in Belarusian towns.

Under article 17.10 of the Code of Administrative Offences of Belarus “Propaganda and/or demonstration in public, making and/or distributing of Nazi symbols or attributes”, an unknown “artist” from Babruisk will be fined or taken into custody if caught.
