President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko proposed on August 26 during the meeting in Minsk between the Customs Union, Ukraine and the EU to make Minsk a venue of regular meetings of the contact group of Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE, BelaPAN reports.

The initiative of forming a contact group to solve the situation in Ukraine was put forward in February. The first meeting of the group took place in Donetsk in early June. The second meeting was held in Minsk on July 31. Former president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, Russia's ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov, the OSCE's Special Envoy to Ukraine Adelheid Tagliavini and representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic took part in the meeting.

Petro Poroshenko said on August 30 the meeting in Minsk on September 1 would involve the same representatives of Ukraine, the OSCE and Russia that took part in the previous meeting.

Andrei Purgin, the deputy prime minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic told RIA Novosti on August 30 he would represent the DNR at the talks.
