Ukraine’s Defense Ministry: 2000 Russian troops died in Donbas

The casualties are mainly among paratroopers.

Not less than 2 thousand Russian troops died in Ukraine. This comes from the Facebook page of an advisor to the Defense Minister of the country Oleksandr Daniliuk.

“About 2 thousand regular Russian servicemen paid their lives for intervening into Ukraine, mainly paratroopers”, - Daniliuk wrote. He also pointed at the necessity to keep the connection with the relatives of the perished Russian soldiers.

“It is now very important to organize an informal group, which would communicated with the relatives of the perished and Russian soldiers and officers and the ones still alive”, - Daniliuk added.

Earlier the head of the Defense Ministry Valeriy Geletey claimed that the anti-terrorism operation had ended and Ukraine had to defend from Russia. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia they expressed indignation at such a statement by the Defense Minister.

Ukraine’s president Petro Poroshenko noted on Monday that Ukrainian troops were in high combat spirits and prepared to defend their territory, despite the difficult situation caused by the direct invasion of Russian troops.

It also came out yesterday that the format will soon be changed of the anti-terroristic operation in Ukraine’s east. “The decision of the change of the format has not yet been taken, and I think we will shortly hear about wider decisions, including in the terms of personnel”, - said the speaker of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Lysenko.
