One just has to wait for this sentence to be enforced, and it is to happen soon, the trade union leader said.

The leader of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions Aliaksandr Yarashuk wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“Your mentality is your fate, your star, your judgement. Lukashenka’s decree №513 as of December 25 “On Stabilization of the Financial and Economic Situation of Certain Organisations” has given one more comprehensive answer whether the government is able to venture upon economic reforms. The astronomic amount of Br4 trillion (more than $200 million) from the budget of the country is to be channeled to support of industrial enterprises, the list of which had been removed from the text of the decree bashfully.

In translation to the commonly understandable language it means that interests of a common man, the level of his income level and his living standards have been sacrificed for the sake of functioning of industrial enterprises. Let’s be objective – sometimes circumstances demand such sacrifices, but that’s not the case.

Just imagine that the already underwhelming salary of teachers, doctors, cultural workers will be significantly cut again and the pensions will be reduced for the sake of production of tractors, trucks, television sets and refrigerators – things that are produced to be kept in stock, since the goods produced by the domestic industry are not in demand and don’t sell.

The ruling regime calls it economic expediency. But we will call a spade a spade – this is economic cretinism generated by intellectual debility. The majority of Belarusian manufacturing enterprises have outlived their usefulness and died. Trying to bring an industrial corpse back to life by means of financial injections is about the same as to keep a body of a brain-dead person alive with the life-supporting equipment.

This is probably not the last attempt taken by the Belarusian authorities in order to revive something that can not be brought back to life - the Belarusian industry. The inability and unwillingness to reckon with the reality are caused by the mentality of the regime, and it sounds like its death sentence. The history and time have already passed their sentence and we can only wait for its enforcement. And this will happen soon..." - he writes.
