Belarusian Ministry of Information hunts websites

The Ministry of Information send out letters to other ministries asking them to report about the websites that violate the mass media legislation.

The ministries were instructed to monitor the sites relating to their key activities, AFN reports.

“If any violations of the mass media legislation (in your scope of activities) are found when monitoring websites, please inform the Ministry of Information about it so that we can take responsive measures,” the ministry's letter reads.

“Please report a particular violation and attach possible materials that confirm the violation,” the document says.

The website charter97.org and a number of other independent sites were blocked for all Belarusian Internet users on December 19, 2014, for no reasons.

Our technical support managed to minimise the consequences of the blocking, but many Belarusian users continue to report about problems accessing the website.

Read here how to bypass blocked access.
