Non-participation in the presidential campaign would be the best strategy for Christian Democrats.

Such a statement has been made by the co-chairman of the organizing committee for creation of the Christian Democratic Party of Belarus, Paval Sevyarynets.

However, the format of participation in the election – 2015 by the BCD is to be determined at the congress, Sevyarynets said to Radio Svaboda.

The BCD does not nominate its candidate and does not support others, as there is no free and fair election in Belarus.

“Instead of that we are going to carry out a massive campaign of collecting signatures for release of Mikalai Statkevich and other political prisoners, and also for health care reform. It is to become a key moment of autumn 2015 for the BCD. This is the position of the National Council. It is clear that the congress may adopt any decision, as it is the supreme body. I know there going to be discussions on this issue. There are adherents of both a total boycott and participation in the election campaign among our members,” Paval Sevyarynets said.

On June 13 in Minsk in the Palace of Culture of Tractor Plant the founding congress of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party is to take place.

200 delegates have been elected. The updated and extended platform of the party is to be approved at the congress, the leadership of the party is to be elected, and the political campaign of 2015 is to be discussed. At the moment the BCD is headed by the three co-chairmen: Paval Sevyarynets, Vital Rymasheuski and Ryhor Dzmitruk.

Besides, the 5th attempt to register the party will be made.
