A Little Mistake Here: Doctor Beaten Up During Arrest Is Not Guilty
Zmitser Serada

The Investigation Committee informed that the pediatrician Zmitser Serada, who was brutally detained by the police officers in his own apartment, was not involved in the crime.

The Investigative Committee is now carrying out a pre-investigation check on the fact of detention of the Minsk doctor Zmitser Serada. This was reported by the official representative of the IC Yulia Gancharova.

“The Zavadski District Investigative Committee Department investigates the criminal case on the fact of hooliganism, expressed in the demonstration of genitals to women in a forested area, – the statement reads. – In order to establish the person, who has committed the crime, the body of inquiry conducted several search operations and got information on Zmitser Serada’s possible involvement in the crime.”

It further states that “the afore-referenced citizen” was arrested by the police and taken to the district department of the Investigative Committee, where “the investigators carried out verification of the information received from the emergency services.” As the result, his guilt was not confirmed, and Zmitser Serada was released, naviny.by reports.

“Now the investigation is in progress: witnesses are examined and expert studies are carried out,” – the statement reads.

At the same time Serada’s wife wrote a complaint to the investigating authorities against the rough actions of the police during the arrest. “Currently pre-investigation checks are being carried out following the complaint,” – the Investigative Committee noted.

As the website charter97.org previously reported, pediatrician Zmitser Serada appealed to human rights defenders. He lives with his wife and daughter in Minsk.

He said that on August 4, at about eight in the morning, when the whole family was still asleep, masked men forced their way into his flat: without explanations they started to break in. Some of them came down from the roof and broke the balcony door’s glass in the kitchen.

The man was trying to find out who those people were and why they were trying to get into his apartment, but the unknown burst into the apartment, twisted his arms behind his back and handcuffed him.

Nobody answered detainee’s questions: “Who are you? What's going on?” Then one of men told his pregnant wife that they were from the police, and showed her and the baby out of the room. As it turned out, the doctor was suspected of exhibitionism. He was released the next day, having been found not guilty.
