Spontaneous Rally In Vorsha: Sole Traders Demand To Reverse Decree №222

Dozens of small businessmen have gathered for a protest rally in the Central Market of Vorsha.

The protesters were holding posters “Work to Sole Traders” and “Reverse Decree №222.”

In his statement the sole traders have emphasized: “We are showing everyone that we are not “on holidays”, but that we demand to abolish the Decree №222. Look how many people have gathered!”

The video from the spontaneous meeting of sole traders in Vorsha was posted on Facebook by the leader of the Republican public association Perspektiva Anatoly Shumchanka, charter97.org reports.

“Sole traders from Vorsha have answered to the deputy minister of trade Karpovich to his deceitful statement about New Year and Christmas holidays of sole traders,” Anatoly Shumchanka said in his comment to the video.

We remind that since January 1, 2016 Belarusian sole traders stop trade massively. Since this date, under Lukashenka’s Decree, sole traders would not be able to sell consumer goods imported without certificates from the countries of the Customs Union. Sole traders have been given an opportunity to sell the shelf stock imported to Belarus before July 1, 2014 without accompanying documents, according to inventory files registered by tax authorities.

500 sole traders of Polatsk market went on strike to protest against mass inspections performed by the tax inspectorate and the Department for fighting against economic crimes at noon on October 16. In the district tax office the businessmen were warned that inspections would be continued. Polatsk sole traders do not exclude further protest rallies.

Since January 2016 spontaneous protest rallies of sole traders are held in empty market places and shopping centres of Belarus.
