What Kind Of “Exercises” Are Held By Russian Paratroopers Near Brest?

Hundreds of Russian paratroopers have been deployed near Brest.

On October 5, units of the 98th Guards Airborne Division of the Airborne Troops of the Russian Armed Forces arrived in Brest to participate in the bilateral joint battalion tactical exercises, the Defense Ministry of Belarus informs.

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus will be represented by units of the 38th separate Guards air assault brigade of the Special Operations Armed Forces, the squad of an unmanned aircraft system of the UAS training center, aviation materiel of the 50th Composite Air Force Base and the Air Defense Forces.

The exercises will be held in three stages under the leadership of the Force Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus of special operations. The active phase of the exercise will take place from 18 to 20 October at the site “Brest.” During the event, the Belarusian and Russian paratroopers will work out issues of carrying out anti-diversionary actions.

More than 500 soldiers, more than 50 units of special equipment and automotive, IL-76, Mi-8 and Mi-24 will be involved.

The exercises will allow to exchange experiences between members of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, as well as to establish common views on the methodology of the joint tactical exercise preparation and conduct.

Joint activities with the participation of combat training of the Armed Forces Special Operations Forces of the Republic of Belarus and the airborne troops of the Russian Federation have become a tradition and are held annually on the military facilities of the two states.
