Investigatory Committee Confirms Worker’s Death At Belaruskali

The tragedy with the 24-year-old worker indeed happened due to the critical condition of the technical equipment.

On Monday, November 14, the Salihorsk district department of the Investigatory Committee of the Republic of Belarus started a criminal case under Part 2 Art. 303 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (violation of the security guidelines at mine works which caused a person’s death out of negligence).

This is stated in the official comment of the Salihorsk district department of the Investigatory Committee with regard to the fact of death of an operator of rock removing machines of the “Shakhtospetsstroy” JSC at the second mine.

The accident was reported to the police at about 9 in the morning.

The operative-investigative group in the squad of investigators from the Salihorsk district department of the Investigatory Committee and the administration of the Investigatory Committee of Minsk region arrived to the accident site.

It was preliminarily established that, at 8.32 a.m. on November 14, during the works on mounting the metallic arched support AP-3 in the exploratory raises from the 445 mm arm, to open the productive reservoir of the 4th potassium horizon of the 2nd mine, in the area of the ventilation raise penetration, when fixing the hydraulic arm of the hydraulic pump of the selective heading machine 22#7, the worker was crushed down by a shearing unit of the machine and died of injuries.

We remind, a Salihorsk resident, born in 1994, who worked at the “Shakhtospetsstroy” JSC as an operator of rock removing machines, died.

At present moment, the urgent investigatory measures are in progress (interrogation of witnesses, seizing official documentation, appointment of examinations).
