Belarusian Fuel Heads towards a Record High in Ukraine

Belarusian Fuel Heads towards a Record High in Ukraine

Ukrainian market received about 3.3 million tons of fuel from Belarus.

In 2016 Belarus has scale up massively supplies of petroleum products to Ukraine. Experts predict that the all-time high of 2012 can be overwhelmed, then Ukraine received more than 4 million tons of petroleum products from Belarus.

According to preliminary data, over 10 months the Ukrainian market received about 3.3 million tons of fuel from Belarus.

- There are chances to duplicate the success, although they are spoiled by decline in oil refining caused by the decision of Russian authorities, Siarhei Kuyun, director of A-95 consulting group, informed tut.by. - There have been few factors promoting the supply increase to Ukraine, both of objective and subjective nature.

According to him, in first six months the growth of supply was also associated with the Russian embargo on supply of diesel fuel to Ukraine, so this volume was mainly replaced by Belarusian resource. The expert also notes more than 80% increase of gasoline supplies that is "mainly relates to reorientation of OKKO network - the largest seller of gasoline in Ukraine - on the Belarusian product." Other Ukrainian networks have also augmented deliveries from Belarus.

According to the results of 10 months this year, the share of Belarusian gasoline in the Ukrainian market equaled to 55%, diesel fuel - 48%.

Siarhei Kuyun predicts that most likely the share of Belarusian supplies will decline due to growing supplies from Russia, as well as in the case of increased production at Ukrainian oil refineries, which is possible. Meanwhile, the decline in supplies of gasoline and diesel fuel will be amended by the resumption of exports of aviation fuel, as well as fuel oil, bitumen and liquefied gas from Belarus.
