Belarusian NPP’s New Reactor Vessel To Be Sent For Examination

The necessity for the examination occurred after an emergency situation which had happened during transportation of the equipment.

The Belarusian NPP’s new reactor vessel will undergo a technical examination. The need thereof occurred after the incident in Talochyn district, where the catenary mast was grazed (as claimed, it was the protecting metallic transportation cover that did it) at one of the railway stations during transportation of the reactor vessel at night on December 25-26.

As reported by BelTA with a reference to the press-center of the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant”, the thorough examination “in accordance with the current norms and regulations” will be carried out when the vessel arrives to the NPP construction site in Astravets district.

It has been reported that the transportation of the new reactor vessel from Russia is being conducted by railway, accompanied by a representative of the manufacturing plant “AEM-Technologies”. It has been officially stated that no damages of the reactor vessel were revealed after the incident in Talochyn district. .

The Belarusian side demanded that the Russian side should replace the initial reactor vessel after the incident which happened at the NPP construction site in July. The large-tonnage metallic construction “slid to the ground” from a several meters height. It was also claimed there had been no damage on the vessel, but the Belarusian side expressed willingness to replace it for a new one.
