Ministry of Sports: We Will Do Everything For “Night Wolves” In Belarus

The Ministry of Sports and Tourism of Belarus will give a warm welcome to Putin’s bikers, though they are not ready to polish the asphalt.

On April 29 in the morning participants of the Russian nationalist biker club “Night Wolves” have left Moscow with a motorbike ride “Roads of Victory Go To Berlin,” TASS informs.

The route of the bikers goes through Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic and Germany. During the action they plan to visit cemeteries of Soviet warriors and monuments to Soviet soldiers, and in Berlin, together with bikers, employees of the Consulate and representatives of war veteran organisations – to take part in commemorative events. It is planned that the ride is to end in Berlin on May 9.

Members of the motor club told about the upcoming event at a meeting with journalists, which took place in Moscow on March 31 as a video conference with participants from Minsk joining it, the website of the motor club Night Wolves reported.

The actions of the participants of the ride on the territory of Belarus are to be coordinates by the Sports and Tourism Ministry. A representative of this agency, who had taken part in the video conference, Pyotr Voran, assured that the ministry is to show “a very serious approach” to supporting the patriotic motor ride. “We shall render necessary assistance for the raid along the roads of the country. We won’t polish the asphalt for you, certainly, it is always clean here, but the road is to be smooth for the motor ride in Belarus,” – the Belarusian official is quoted by the website of the motor club.

According to the TASS, the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Russia had informed governments of European countries about the planned ride with showing a detailed route and the events which are to take place, however on April 29 Poland stated that it is not going to let the participants pass through its territory.

The analogous situation took place last year. A day before the race beginning Poland warned that Russian bikers would be banned entry to the territory of Poland – the first country of the EU on the way of the bikers. On April 27 the participants of the race reached the Belarusian – Polish border, but not many of them managed to enter the EU territory. Later the rest of the race participants still managed to reach Berlin one by one.
