Belarus Becomes Leader In Inflation Among Former Soviet Union Countries

Over the period of 5 months consumer prices in Belarus have grown by 7%.

Belarus has taken the first position among the countries of the former Soviet Union in consumer prices rise in January – May 2016, BelaPAN informs with a reference to the analysis of national statistics bodies’ data.

Over the five month consumer prices in the country have grown by 7%. Then follows Azerbaijan (6.7%), Ukraine (5.2%), Kazakhstan (4.2%), Russia (2.9%), Tajikistan (2.7%), Estonia (1.5%), Latvia (1.2%), Lithuania (0.9%) and Moldova (0.3%). Prices have gone down in Georgia (by 0.3%), Armenia (by 0.6%) and Kyrgyzstan (by 1.8%). In Turkmenistan data about the Q1 has been announced only (price rise by 0.57%). There is no data about Uzbekistan.

At the end of January, Belarus was the third in price increase (1,9%), according to the results of January – February – the second (4.8%), the Q1 — second (5.7%), January – April — the second as well (6.4%).

In May 2016 Belarus with its price increase by 0.5% shared the second position with Kazakhstan. The first position was taken by Latvia (0.6%). Then — Russia (0.4%), Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan (by 0.2% each), Ukraine and Estonia (by 0.1%). Prices have not changed in Lithuania, went down in Azerbaijan (by 0.1%), Georgia (by 0.4%) and Armenia (by 0.7%).
