New Details In Case Of Pavel Sheremet’s Murder
PAVEL SHEREMET

The actual perpetrators of the crime might have already left Ukraine, and security forces are looking for “a man with a cane.”

Assistant Attorney General Larisa Sargan says that composite portrait of suspects of journalist Pavel Sheremet’s murder will be made public in the near future, Today reports.

The General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine adds that they are being composed with the help of the videotapes confiscated from surveillance cameras located near Sheremet’s parking place. Now, investigators are considering several versions of the murder – from domestic to personal dislike, but in general they are inclined to believe that Pavel was killed because of his professional activities.

In spite of the secrecy of the case, the publication’s sources in the security agencies have revealed a few details of the investigation.

“No one has been detained yet. We are trying to establish the identity of the man with a cane, who is on one of the videos (we remind that the “lame,“ that was standing by the exploded Sheremet’s car, at first did not respond to the explosion and later on he quickly ran to Pavel's car), –the source in one of the law enforcement agencies said. – His behavior is strange, he seems to be waiting for the explosion, and therefore he has come into notice. We are also inclined to believe that the perpetrators might have already left Kiev and, possibly, Ukraine, immediately after the crime.”

Other Today’s sources inform that FBI agents are helping experts with “chemical reagents and special equipment, which can determine the type of explosives and stuffing very accurately.” FBI agents have been to the scene and taken the so-called re-scrapings even from the sidewalk, where the explosion had left the car’s fragments and explosive particles. “We have specialists, but there’s a big problem with equipment for expert examination,” – the law enforcers explained.
