Man With Knife Attacked Picket “For Freedom!” In Minsk

A picket to collect signatures for Yury Hubarevich has been attacked.

The incident took place near building 12 in Hintaut street in Minsk at about 16 p.m. Deputy Chairman of the movement For Freedom Yury Hubarevich is collecting signatures for nomination to candidates for “deputies” in Kalinouski constituency No. 108 in Minsk.

In his comments to Euroradio the politician said that the picket had been attacked by a man armed with a knife or some other sharp object.

“A 40-45 year old man approached the picket, asked who the candidate was, what structures he represented. He spoke quite aggressively to the collector. And then, after some time, he came with a knife or some other sharp object and cut off half of our white-red-white flag’s cloth. The flag is always there at my pickets.”

We managed to take photographs of the attacker, but only from the back. Hubarevich promises to lay the photos open to the public in the evening.

A police captain arrived at the scene and questioned collector of signatures Dzmitry Tretsijak and witnesses of the incident. Hubarevich says it will insist the police to initiate a case over the attack.
