White-red-white Flags On Nezalezhnastsi Avenue (Live)

The action "Avenue of the national flag" has been held today in Minsk.

The action is devoted to 25th anniversary of proclamation of white-red-white flag and Pahonia coat of arms the state symbols of Belarus.

Leaders Zmitser Dashkevich, Juhen Afnahel and Pavel Vinahradau urged Belarusians to "raise the national flags along the avenue, testifying that the white-red-white flag lives and will soon again become the national flag of Belarus."

20.12 Initiators of the action spoke out on the Kastrychnitskaya Square. Juhen Afnahel, coordinator of European Belarus civil campaign stated that the action was over. According to him, to make the white-red-white flag national, one needs to fight for it. People chanted "Long live Belarus!".

20.05 White-red-white flags were waving on Nezalezhnastsi Square. At 8 pm participants went back to the Kastrychnitskaya Square.

19.49 Zmitser Dashkevich called the campaign a very successful one. According to him, it gives hope and confidence that the white-red-white flag will soon be national.

19.46 Leader of entrepreneurs Ales Makayeu, co-chairman of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party Pavel Sevyarynets, a famous film director Valery Mazynsky appeared in the action.

19.31 Police and the security services in plainclothes behave arrogantly; they came very close to protesters and shot them on camera.

19.26 Avenue of the national flag becomes longer. White-red-white flags are waving next to the KGB building.

19.24 A public activist from Russia Alexey Karyagin who said that the "action is a great event, all the nations should adhere to their symbols" joined the action.

19.22 People with flags are standing next to the state store. Police in plain clothes shoot the action on camera and do not disturb.

19.11 Protesters with flags stand along the roadway. The chain of people stretches from the Kastrychnitskaya Square to the Nezalezhnastsi Avenue.

19.05 At 7 pm dozens of people came out with white-red-white flags on the Kastrychnitskaya Square. There are one of the leaders of the Belarusian National Congress Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu, coordinator of European Belarus civil campaign Maksim Vinyarski and Jauhen Afnagel, the leader of Young Front Zmitser Dashkevich. There are a lot of ordinary people who came there with children.
