One Can Get Job Only Through Pull In Belarus

The leader of the Independent Trade Union told who would be fired first at the enterprises.

According to the National Statistics Committee, 4 million 396 thousand people were employed in the economy of Belarus in August 2016. This is almost 84 thousand less than a year earlier.

In the last month of the summer 88 323 people were laid off. In August the number of employed was almost 10 ten thousand less, than the number of dismissed.

– Today, as a rule, primarily those, who actively defend their rights and interests at the workplace, are not renewed the employment contract. As well as pensioners. Those, who have entered the job through pull, remain. I even find it difficult now to recall an enterprise, that would be recruiting people to work, – chairman of the Belarusian Trade Union of Radio Electronic Industry Henadz Fiadynich told Salidarnasts.

According to him, these days people are most often afraid, that it is practically impossible to find a job.

– This problem is particularly acute for those, who are preparing to retire. It’s very hard to live on 230-250 rubles.

The leader of the REP trade union considers that the problem of dismissal will only grow worse:

– There are stories that Amkodor is going to fire 20% of employees after the execution of a Bangladeshi order. MAZ and MTZ continue to turn out products, but is it of high quality and in-demand in the market? That's where the problem is.
