Eduard Palchys Transferred To Remand Prison In Valadarski Street In Minsk
Eduard Palchys

The founder and author of the website 1863x.com has been transferred to the remand prison #1 in Valadarski Street in Minsk today.

This has been informed to the brother of Eduard Palchys, the founder and the author of the website 1863x.com, when he came to pass a parcel to the prisoner of Zhodzina penal facility.

Many people write letters to Eduard Palchys so it is important to write at the new address, Eduard’s wife Victoria tells Radio Liberty. The convict writes responses as well: she received three letters at a time yesterday, the latest one is dated September 18. In his letters, he never complains about the food or attitude, and seems to have a positive mood, according to Victoria.

Palchys’ lawyer Hanna Bakhtsina saw him for the last time on September 26. They discussed preparation for the trial. She says he looked good but grew thin.

We remind, the trial against Eduard Palchys starts on October 14. The founder and administrator of the website 1863x.com Eduard Palchys (known as John Silver) was charged with “incitement to racial, national or religious enmity or antagonism”( Part 1 of Art. 130 of the Criminal Code of Belarus) and “distribution of pornographic materials”( Part 2 of Art. 343 of the Criminal Code of Belarus). Eduard Palchys faces up to 5 years in prison for “inciting hatred” and up to 4 years in prison for “distribution of pornographic materials”.

Palchys believes that the Central district court of Minsk took its decision on considering the articles extremist without studying the actual articles, and sent a complaint to Minsk city court.

Meanwhile, the website1863x.com “came alive again” – the materials similar to the previous ones are published thereof.
