The human rights activist told how the fight against the illegal decree goes.

Activists of the independent trade union REP have gathered more than six thousand signatures of citizens over two days – and those are only those who have signed under an electron petition, excluding the signatures that have been collected on the streets of Belarusian cities. If the authorities don't listen to the people's demand to abolish the tax, there could be mass protests, the organizers believe.

"It's high time people stopped to fear government agencies, the police, prosecutors, the KGB, as there is the Constitution, there are rights. So we explain to people that even in the situation with this decree they have certain rights and they can file complaints and claims. That is why we have examined the people's stories and have found out that the notifications are sent out in a spam like manner,"Aleh Vouchak, the head of the center "Legal Assistance to Population", said to Belsat on air.

He also told that he had helped several people, who were not subject to any notifications at all, to draw up a claim in the tax office. The claim was considered within one month, the tax office admitted its mistake and canceled the demand to pay the tax.

" We will have several such cases, and we have already raised the issue of bringing the tax inspector who incorrectly filed the lists (with potential "parasites"), to disciplinary responsibility," – Aleh Vouchak added.

According to the human rights defender, tax officers have faced problems due to the decree on "parasites":

" The day before yesterday I received a call from a regional tax office, I will not name the region, and they complained that they receive a lot of complaint letters and that the tax officers are overloaded with work. Surely, the system monitors this, reads the moods. We see that there was a meeting in Administration of Lukashenka in December, they have been discussing a lot after the New Year trying to find a way out of the current situation. However, the moods are not favorable to the regime. Especially in small cities and villages, as there is no jobs at all."
