Belarus Hit Ranking Of Countries With Missed Opportunities

Armenia and Kyrgyzstan are our country's neighbors on the anti-ranking.

Analysts at the US consulting company Expert Market compared the number of new businesses started during 2016 in 130 countries with the level of severity of the business environment in each of them. The results were used to make a list of the top 15 states with the most persistent entrepreneurs, as well as the list of the top 15 countries with missed opportunities. And although Belarus was not among the countries with the most persistent entrepreneurs, it was included in the list of countries where business opportunities were missed, thinktanks.by writes.

Our country is among the countries, where it's easy to start a new business, but where only few have been started. On a scale from 1 to 130 Belarus took 31 place by the ease of starting a business. This means that the American experts believe that it's comparatively easy to start a new business in Belarus. However our country is 84th by the number of new businesses.

By the way, there are many other CIS countries in the list of the top 15 countries with missed opportunities. Thus, Azerbaijan is on the 5th place in the ranking, Uzbekistan is on the 3rd place, Ukraine is on the 6th place, Armenia is on the 7th place and Kyrgyzstan is on the 10th place.

Curiously, Canada is on the 2nd place in this ranking. This country in on the 2nd place by the ease of starting a new business, but only on the 77th place by the number of new businesses started.

We remind that Belarus lifted from the 50th to the 37th place in the Doing Business ranking last year. At the same time our country was included in the top 5 countries which had achieved the greatest progress within a year in the facilitation of business along with Brunei, Kazakhstan, Kenya and Indonesia.
