Lukashenka Lost His Reason

The dictator backed the wrong horse in his fight against "parasites".

"It is amazing how non-pragmatically Lukashenka behaved. Probably, everything looked good enough for him in the theory. Indeed, why not to collect money from those who do not pay taxes and use the social sphere?" – Salidarnasts’ author Ruslan Harbachou writes.

In practice, the Belarusian ruler alienated almost the whole of society against him. For example, housewives were equated to alcoholics and shufflers (an exception was made for those, who have children under 7). Even the state television expressed surprise.

Lukashenka could still partially "save the face", if he "rewound" his decision. He had done this trick many times before – just remember the "loosening" of food and petrol prices. But this time, the dictator didn’t get a feel for this moment and made it even worse. According to recent changes, even housewives, whose children from 3 to 7 years of age get pre-school education, will be forced to pay the tax.

The amount involved, due to which the country's ruler arranged all this fuss, impresses deeply. For example, a lot of people may not like the raise of the retirement age, but without a doubt this is beneficial for the state. But as for "parasites" ...

According to recent reports, 400,000 tax payment notifications have been sent. Let's make a bold prediction – a half will pay the tax. In this case, the budget will receive about $ 40 million. Is it a lot or a little? Let’s give the floor to Lukashenka.

Talking about how much it will cost to hold the European games, he said: "We will have to spend about $ 50 million over the years. It’s a drop in the ocean for the country."

Larger amounts do not impress the state as well. In December, Lukashenka said that last year, free-trade zone residents transferred "miserable"$ 200 million to the budget. By the way, the country's GDP is about 50 billion dollars.

"What happened to Lukashenka is a big mystery. It is no longer a man, who feels instinctively how to earn points in the eyes of the electorate. He takes ill-considered radical decisions instead," – the journalist writes.

And, perhaps, it is already possible to see the main result of the still ongoing struggle against "parasites". Regardless of how it will end, the dictator is unlikely to recover his losses.

We remind that on February 17, at 18-00, the March of disgruntled Belarusians to demand the abolition of the decree on "parasites" will begin on Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk.
