Internet To Be Unavailable For Belarusians?

The authorities have decided to sharply raise the price for telecommunication services.

It is planned that people will be providing 100% reimbursement of the costs of telecommunication services by 2020 in Belarus.

It is provided for by the regulation №18 of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, which sets out the program of socio-economic development of the country for 2016-2020, kv.by writes.

It is stated in the document, that it is planned to bring telecommunications services and postal services to a breakeven within 3 years taking into account the reduction of the cost of their provision.

We remind that the so-called "tax on the Internet", which was introduced in Belarus on April 1, 2016, provides for a 25% increase in VAT on telecommunication services. Raising of the rates affected end consumers, as most mobile operators and Internet providers have loaded the burden on their customers.

From January 1, 2017 a similar tax has been applied to all telecommunication services, as originally the increased rate was used for services rendered to customers.
