As for the “witnesses”-policemen, the BCD leader reminded them that they would have to take responsibility for their lies at politically motivated court trials.

Co-Chairman of the steering committee for creating the party “Belarusian Christian Democracy” Pavel Seviarynets was fined for 50 base fees (Bn 1 150) for participation in the street action in support of the Belsat TV-channel. Such decision was taken by the Minsk Lenin district court’s Judge Dzmitry Astapenka on January 5, Seviarynets has informed to the BelaPAN news agency.

The charge against the politician was executed under Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus (violating the order of organization or conducting mass events) upon the results of the picket on December 20. On that day, the opposition activists came over to Lukashenka’s Administration with posters in support of the Belsat TV-channel. They submitted to the Administration’s reception office their appeal with a demand “to stop broadcasting of the Russian propagandistic TV-channels which undermine the independence of the Republic of Belarus, and also to include Belsat into the broadcasting network in Belarus, to finance it for the expense of the state budget and accredit all the journalists.”

“Upon the results of the court hearing, I suggested the judge should file a dismissal report in connection with their actions. The answer was “We’ve heard your opinion”, — Seviarynets has said.

The politician has also published his conversation with the “witnesses”-policemen on his Facebook page:

“I ask the “witnesses”-policemen:

- Whom do you serve?

- Belarusian people.

- Why do you drag people to court for protecting independence then?

- I will not respond to that.

- Do you have a conscience?

- I will not respond to that.

Oh, yes, you will. You will respond to the God and to the people.”

This is the first fine for Pavel Seviarynets in 2017. Last year, the BCD Co-Chairman was subjected to administrative responsibility for participation in the opposition actions no less than 15 times.
