"Surprise" Awaits Traffic Rules Violators

The responsibility for repetitive traffic violations can be toughened in Belarus.

It was reported to journalists by head of the department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Dzmitry Karziuk, BelTA informs.

"There is a proposal to establish a more severe responsibility for several similar violations of traffic rules, committed in a row," – Dzmitry Karziuk says. In his opinion, the number of violations that can already be considered a system is three or more. "This proposal is being considered and may be adopted in the near future," – he adds.

The issue of adding greater punitive measures was touched upon by the journalists in connection with the results of the recent monitoring of the taxi minibuses in Vitsebsk region. As reported, on October 8, traffic policemen travelled privately as passengers in minibuses along Vitsebsk, to Minsk and Polatsk and returned back to the regional center. In total, about 30 vehicles were inspected, 74 violations of traffic regulations and passenger transportation (many of which were serial) were identified.

Dzmitry Karziuk notes that the traffic police will continue to practice hidden methods of work. "The drivers of minibuses are always in a hurry, they just fly. They need to transport as many passengers as possible. And that’s why the minibuses are under special control," – he says. The covert work helps to identify violations of traffic rules by different traffic participants and is used quite often. Inspectors use video fixing increasingly.
