Andrei Komlik-Yamatsin: We Holding On With Help Of Relatives, Friends
ANDREI KOMLIK-YAMATSIN

How does one of the defendants in the “patriots case”, Ihar Komlik’s son live after the release?

Belaruspartisan.org found out about the free life of defendant in the “patriots case” Andrei Komlik-Yamatsin.

The situation of Andrei Komlik-Yamatsin is a complicated one — Andrei was released under a non-leave obligation, but his father Ihar Komlik was held in custody in the remand prison for over a month. Ihar Komlik is a Chief Accountant at the Independent Trade Union of the Radio-Electronic Industry Workers (REP) and a defendant in the “tax evasion case”.

— I have adapted to the old conditions a little. Still, my arrest seriously affected the family psychologically, we need time to recover.

Old illnesses became aggravated: I recently passed a physical examination, and they said that my cardiogram wasn’t good, the eye-sight deteriorated, and in general I feel worse than before the arrest (it is necessary to undergo an additional examination).

— How are things at work?

— I returned to my old job, tot he Minsk Motor Plant, the administration had no claims against me.

But the fact is that I am also an craftsman. Unfortunately, all the handicraft materials are in the computer which had been seized during the search; they keep promising to give it back, but nothing happens. Therefore, it is problematic for me to do my crafts now.

I make works in ethno-style: I make clothes, accessories, belts.

— How did the absense of an opportunity to be fully engaged with the craft activity affect the material state of the family?

— We are holding on. Relatives, friends help. It is very hard psychologically, when you cannot do your favourite work, develop the Belarusian traditional outfits, the Belarusian culture.

— How do you assess the perspectives of the criminal case, especially at the background of the re-attestation which the Ministry of Justice arranged for the lawyers?

— Everything should end fairly — there’s no case anyway. This is my personal opinion.

The pressure on the lawyers does not comply with any legal norms, this is inhumane.

All the defendants in the "patriots case" remain under a non-leave and a non-disclosure obligation. In September, the Investigatory Committee extended the investigation into the case for two months. Periodically, the persons involved in the criminal case are summoned for interrogations, but there is no "breakthrough" in the criminal case.
