Oksana Hryshchenko: Belarusians, Whole World Watches You When You Come Out Protesting

One of the leaders of the Ukrainian “Power of People” party has addressed to Belarusians.

Oksana Hryshchenko has come up with her message on the eve of the Outraged Belarusians’ March 2.0, which is to be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow, on October 21 in the Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk.

The Charter97.org offers the full text of the message for your attention:

“Hello!

I am happy to greet you from Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. My name is Oksana Hryshchenko, I am the head of the Kyiv branch of the political party "Power of People". This is the Ukrainian party, which was conceived in the summer of 2013. At that time, Yanukovych was in power, the prospects for our democracy and free elections were not very positive. We then thought how to struggle, what alternative we could offer in elections, what political methods we could use. We believed that we should struggle for democracy under any conditions. Nobody knew then that Maidan would start in autumn, no one could even guess.

However, in autumn we took on to the streets and Ukrainians began to fight for their freedom. Protest, the Revolution of Dignity — Ukrainians have chosen their freedom. We paid a high price for this freedom, but freedom is the greatest value, not some kind of philosophy and luxury. This is an absolute necessity for economic stability and prosperity, for the rule of law. In order for every citizen to know what tomorrow has in store for them: from the point of view of the economy, from the point of view of their rights, from the point of view of their future, and the future of their children.

We are infinitely grateful to the Belarusians who supported us, who took part in the actions in the Maidan and are now fighting with us in the east of Ukraine. We want to express our support to the Belarusians who are fighting for their freedom. When you come out to the streets to protest, the whole world watches you. And we all understand how important freedom is. Maybe, somewhere in the West, there’s enough freedom already, and people are used to it, but we understand how important it is.

You, in the first place, are fighting for your country as well as Ukrainians fought for theirs. No one will solve our problems except ourselves. But we always support you, wish you happiness, good luck, be strong. Fight for your freedom, for democracy, for your future and the future of your children. And luck will surely be with you.

Long Live Belarus! "
