The uncertainty of the situation in the country and in the EAEU is hindering the flow of investments.

The existing issues regarding the further development of the situation with the Eurasian Economic Union restrain the arrival of German investments in Belarus, Germany's Ambassador to Belarus Peter Dettmar told in an interview to Interfax-West.

"Over the past 12-18 months, numerous representatives of the German economy came here to find out on the spot about the chances and risks of the local market. The reason that the German investors are still hesitating is the existing issues about how the situation with the Eurasian Economic Union will develop further, " — Dettmar said.

"We repeatedly heard criticism from the government of your country, which noted that the situation in the EAEU does not meet the expectations that were associated with the entry into force of the agreement on the EAEU in 2015," — the diplomat said.

"We are talking about the fact that Belarus as a member of the EAEU should have free access to the markets of the countries of the union. And the availability of access to this large market is an important issue for the investors from Germany. Since there are no guarantees in this respect, this is the reason for the investors' meditation, "— he explained.

"One thing is clear: they are closely watching the developments in the market of the Eurasian Economic Union," — the ambassador added.
