Conscript Died In Barysau

The main version of the investigation is suicide.

The Barysau district department of the Investigative Committee conducts a pre-investigation check on the death of a conscript who served in the military town of Pechy in Barysau from May this year.

The information about the soldier’s death was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense.

– We can confirm that the accident has taken place. The competent authorities are conducting a check. Uladzimir Makarau does not specify the soldier’s age, only noting that "it happened a few days ago."

– The Barysau district department of the Investigation Committee is conducting a pre-investigation check on the death of a conscript who served in the army since May this year. On October 3, his body was discovered in the basement of one of the buildings on the territory of the military unit located in Barysau district. During the inspection of the scene, the investigation didn’t find any signs of a criminal nature. The data obtained as a result of the initial measures allow us to consider a suicide as the main version. A forensic medical examination was appointed to determine the cause of death, – Tatsiana Belanoh, the official representative of the Minsk region Investigative Committee Department, comments.

The IC notes that in order to establish the causes and circumstances of the incident, officials of the military unit, co-workers, relatives, acquaintances are being interviewed, a number of examinations have been appointed.

We remind that over the past six months, this is the second tragic incident in Pechy. On March 31, 25-year-old Minsker Artsiom Bastsiuk died there. Then the deceased guy’s family told us that the son had problems in the unit, he had been talking about hazing. That situation had been discussed with the leadership.

"They had promised us that they would look after my son, everything would be fine, and in 12 hours Artsiom died. How so? My wife asked to give him a psychologist, but nobody spoke to my son. Now we will make sure that the guilty of Artsiom's death are punished," – deceased soldier’s father Siarhei Aliaksandrovich said in April.

The Investigative Committee joined the case, started to conduct a pre-investigation check into the military conscript’s death.
