The activist also reached open hearings on urban the land improvement.

On October 15 while reconstruction of the Molodezhny shopping center 33 trees were cut down in Mozyr. It caused a conflict. Inhabitants addressed to Paval Nozdrya, the head of the local REP Trade Union, as a result, there will be a new public garden and a playground instead of a parking lot, and the developer is punished, praca-by.info informs.

Individual entrepreneur Linkevich, the owner of the Molodezhny shopping center, planned to build a parking lot near residential building No. 10 and caused anger among residents.

Paval Nozdrya appealed to the Prosecutor's Office to hold the guilty of illegal felling of trees liable, and also to oblige the Mozyr District Executive Committee make the procedure of public hearings transparent.

Reconstruction and other construction work constantly cause disputes in Belarus. The reason for these conflict situations is the violation of the international convention that declares the right of citizens to participate in solving socially significant problems considering the environment. However, in practice, citizens learn about constructions and felling of trees after the work has started.

This time the Mozyr Executive Committee has made the procedure of public hearings more transparent. The individual entrepreneur held the meeting with tenants, there he presented two project variants. None of them was adopted by tenants and Paval Nozdrya appealed to the Mozyr Executive Committee with a proposal to resolve the conflict. More than 60 residents of house No. 10, Pritytskogo Street, signed the appeal. A compromise was proposed with changes to the project that would satisfy all parties to the conflict.

A new project on reconstruction of Molodezhny shopping center was presented on October 30. Residents had a chance to express their wishes and suggestions. Before the meeting the investor met proposals prepared by Paval Nozdrya and then presented the project with these amendments.

According to the new project, there will be no parking lot. The green area will be restored, pedestrian paths will be developed and a new playground will be build.

The Mozyr Prosecutor's Office has initiated the case on illegal felling of tees, and the Mozyr Executive Committee drew up three administrative protocols on illegal construction and reconstruction works.

The individual entrepreneur Linkevich sold the Molodezhny to the investor, and instead of the restaurant there will be a youth cafe and a supermarket that works until 22 o'clock.

And the Mozyr Executive Committee undertook to inform citizens in advance of public hearings on some kinds of developments or reconstructions affecting interests of ordinary residents of Mozyr.
