Activist of the European Belarus Fined $460
Leanid Kulakou

The authorities are really concerned about protest moods in the society.

Belarusian courts continue the administrative persecution of participants of the March of Angry Belarusians 2.0 held on October 21 in Minsk. Around 15 people are punished with fines, many are waiting for the appointment of the court session, HRC Viasna informs.

It is obvious that the authorities are really concerned about protest moods in the society.

Today at 9 am the court of Pershamaiski district of Minsk began proceedings in the case of the activist of the European Belarus civil campaign Leanid Kulakou, who was accused of participating in an "unauthorized mass event" under Article 23.34 para 3 of the Administrative Code of Belarus. Judge Svyatlana Cherepovich considered the case.

Leanid Kulakou declared mistrust to the judge, and explained it with her poor legal competence. The next request concerned the punishment. The activist asked to punish him with arrest, since he was an unemployed and did not have means to pay fines.

He even took personal supplies with him. But the judge did not satisfy the request. A riot policeman I.Sukach was a witness. After a short break the judge delivered the verdict: find him guilty and fine 40 basic units or 920 rubles.
