Slutsk Rebel Commemorated In Koptseuka
ANDREI YAKUBETSKI

Visiting the grave of Andrei Yakubetski is the tribute to Belarusian patriots, for the local activists.

Representatives of the Hrodna public organizations came to the symbolic grave of the Belarusian People's Republic activist, Slutsk rebel Andrei Yakubetski in the village of Koptseuka, Hrodna region, to honor his memory.

Historian Aliaksei Kairys spoke about Aliaksandr Yakubetski for Radio Racyja:

— Andrei Yakubetski was a military figure, a participant of the Slutsk uprising. After the events of the Slutsk Armed Uprising, he lived in exile in Latvia and was engaged in education. He was killed in 1944 in the village of Suhmiani, Hrodna region under unknown circumstances. This is a symbolic grave so that the people of Hrodna could come and honour the BPR figure.

Civil activist Eduard Dzmukhouski believes that visiting the grave of Yakubetski is a tribute to Belarusian patriots.

— On our part, we came to the village of Koptseuka, where the parents, relatives, and friends of Andrei Yakubetski are buried. Here, Belarusian patriots established a symbolic memorial plate dedicated to the memory of Andrei Yakubetski — the BPR activist, member of the Slutsk uprising. It is our duty to honor these people, telling everyone about them. So that not only the interested people come here, but all Belarusians.

Honoring the memory of Andrei Yakubetski was the beginning of a series of activities in Hrodna region, which are connected with the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian People's Republic and the symbolic honouring of Hrodna natives who participated in Slutsk uprising, which took place in November 1920.
