Ihar Komlik: "The Trade Union Case" Is Distinctly Becoming A Political One
Ihar Komlik

The REP trade union leaders are fighting for the safety of their activists.

The Investigative Committee extended the investigation into the case against Henadz Fiadynich, the leader of the Radio Electronics Industry Workers' Union (REP), and Ihar Komlik, the chief accountant. The criminal case was initiated under an article on "tax evasion in a particularly large amount". According to Ihar Komlik, the investigator told him about the extension of the investigation during the last interrogation, but he did not show a written decision on extending the investigation, racyja.com reports.

"This case was extended until February 2, because they had got an order to" find "something. And so the investigators are kind of doing their "work". But it’s clear that the questions do not always relate to what we were doing in 2011. Therefore, there are doubts that this is a criminal case, it's more a matter of politics," – Ihar Komlik told reporters.

According to Ihar Komlik, the investigators demanded from him and Henadz Fiadynich to provide a list of union members. This has nothing to do with the charges of "tax evasion in 2011". And knowing that information about trade union activists can lead to pressure and even their dismissal, the leaders of the REP refused to do so. "As before, we deny our guilt and we constantly declare it," – Ihar Komlik stressed.
