Mikalai Statkevich To Belarusian Security Officers: Keep Records Of Regime’s Crimes

Mikalai Statkevich To Belarusian Security Officers: Keep Records Of Regime’s Crimes
MIKALAI STATKEVICH

The BNC leader has appealed to the Belarusian officers.

It is not known how much longer the so-called "president" will be able to keep his regime afloat by robbing people and being dependent on other countries’ charity. But this cannot last forever – the capable people are leaving, other countries have their own problems, the loans have to be paid back, meanwhile, the global economic competition is growing.

The countries, where the initiative and freedom of people's creativity are not restrained, are winning this competition. Our state maintains total control at enormous financial cost. This enormous collective farm has no chance to survive, and its chairman will not be able to upgrade himself. No matter how much he strives for the digital economy, he still ends up with milk yield and delivery of organic materials to the fields.

After returning the power to the people, the issue of the current authorities’ crimes will inevitably arise. It’s clear that the fate of those, who are involved in murders, torture and beatings, will be decided by the criminal court. Those, who participated in the misappropriation of power, falsification of elections, organization of political repression, will bear responsibility as well. Then mutual accusations and attempts to shift responsibility to ordinary performers are inevitable.

I appeal to those of you who have not participated in the grave crimes of the current government, but serve in structures that carry out political repressions. Do not let them make you whipping boys to bear responsibility for their illegal actions.

Under democratic power, there will be inevitable reductions in the current hypertrophied "law enforcement" bodies. The first ones to be fired will be those of you who will be accused of involvement in political repression. Unfair accusations will also be possible. The service environment is very competitive and that is why self-dealing use of biased information about involvement in repressions is possible.

In addition, the issue of compensating to the victims of political repressions – for imprisonment, fines, moral or material damage, will inevitably arise. The state will be able to pay this compensation at the expense of the funds collected from those involved in illegal repressions.

For example, compensations could be collected from those employees who signed false protocols or gave false evidence in courts is possible in favor of those fined or arrested for rallies to demand observing constitutional rights. The length of service time could be reduced for the period of service, when the employee participated in political repressions. The ranks received in such a period and the right for service pension could be lost.

In order not to be the only one responsible for repressions, I recommend the following measures.

Of course, it is better to refuse to execute commands to perform repression or to avoid doing them. But not everyone is able to do this for various reasons. Therefore, in order to share responsibility and reduce it thereby in the future, it is very important to record and keep safely the evidence of receiving illegal orders. This can be a photocopy of a written order or an audio recording of a spoken order.

If making of such copies is impossible, it is necessary to record the exact time, place, describe circumstances and list the witnesses that can confirm that you received an unlawful command ordering to perform repression.

If you yourself witnessed political repression being performed or witnessed that your colleagues were ordered to perform them, then record information about these crimes. Such evidence will be needed to punish criminals in the future. This is your duty to justice. Even if it can not be administered now.

For the successful future of our country, we must not only return the country to democracy, but also punish those responsible for lawlessness and usurpation of power.

Otherwise, attempts to steal power from the people will be repeated again and again.
