Belarusians Will Need No Visa To Travel To Argentina

A number of other countries are to follow - from the Philippines to Oman.

The Council of Ministers forwarded an agreement between the governments of Belarus and Argentina on mutual visa-free trips of citizens to the "house of representatives" . Radio Svaboda learnt this from the Commission for International Affairs of the "parliament".

The document stipulates that the owners of all types of Belarusian passports can stay in Argentina for up to 90 days in a calendar year without a visa. The "House of Representatives" must ratify the agreement (and this is done in one reading)to make it come into effect. "Deputies" will consider this issue at the spring session, which traditionally begins on April 2.

The press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Dzmitry Mironchyk said when asked about the prospects for expanding the visa-free regime:

"We are in visa facilitation talks with a number of states. If to take a roundabout approach to the subject, I can mention Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, and the Republic of Korea in Asia. In Latin America we are in talks with Uruguay, Peru, and Honduras. In Europe it is Macedonia, and in the Persian Gulf – Oman. We are in talks to facilitate the visa regime or to introduce a visa-free regime with all of these countries.

Last year, a number of such agreements came into force. Thus, an agreement on visa-free regime with Brazil took effect on November 25 last year," – the spokesman said.
