Minskers Boycott Transport Tax

The residents of the capital appear more likely to ignore the tech inspection and do not pay the transport tax.

Last year, the number of motorists who did not pass the tech inspection, and, consequently, did not pay the transport tax, decreased by 10% compared to 2015. The residents of Minsk, Vitsebsk and Mahiliou regions tend to pass the tech inspection most rarely.

The experts of the unitary enterprise "Beltehosmotr" have told to tut.by that last year about 1,542,422 permits for the admission of vehicles to participate in the traffic movement were issued. This is 9,6% less than in 2015 - 1,705,640 permits were issued then. These motorists neither passed the inspection, nor paid the transport tax. The motorists pass the tech inspection most actively in April and December - before increasing the base fee.

Herein, in Minsk, the number of permits issued for a vehicle’s admission to participate in the traffic movement decreased by 1,7%. A similar situation occurred in Vitsebsk (- 9,6%) and Mahiliou (-9,6%) regions. Perhaps this is due to the increase in the number of new cars - the owners of these cars need to be inspected every two years. The motorists of Brest and Homel regions remain quite law-abiding in this regard.

Important to note, it is impossible to pass the tech inspection without the paid state fee for the right of the vehicle’s participation in the traffic movement. The amount of the fee depends on the vehicle's age and weight.
