Homel activist arrived to support the protesters in Rahachou.

On Sunday, the residents of Rahachou held a demonstration in the town center. The website Charter97.org covered the event live. Homel activist Uladzimir Niapomniashchykh came to the town to support the protesters.

- I came to Rahachou to support the people. The people all over Belarus are in rage. They are outraged not only about the “social parasites” decree, but about Lukashenka personally in the first place. I totally agree with these people, I can’t stay at home sitting on my cozy sofa, I must be amidst the free people of Rahachou. We will make Lukashenka retire, whether he likes it or not. If he loves Belarus, if he loves the Belarusian people as he declares, he must face the people, like Yeltsin did, get down to his knees and say: “I am tired, I am leaving”. He could head the Belarusian ice hockey team so that we would become known all over the world, with his head up high. He seems a good ice hockey player, he lost no games, let him handle this. This is what I came here to fight for,” – Niapomniashchykh says, sarcastically.

Important to note, on February 17 Minsk held a many-thousand protest action called the Outraged Belarusians’ March, demanding to abolish the “social parasites” decree and to hold free elections. The authorities were given one month to satisfy the demands of the March.

After that, on February 26, the protest actions took place in all the regional centers of Belarus. In Homel, several thousand people went out to protest.

On March 5, the “Non-Parasites Marches” were held in big cities of Belarus. In Brest, several thousand protesters blocked the central avenue of the city.

The leaders of the Belarusian National Congress have called on their co-citizens from Minsk and the regions to come out to the protest action on the Freedom Day on March 25 in the capital, and to hold the protest actions in their cities on March 26.
