International organizations supported Homel human rights defenders.
On the eve of the trial of Leanid Sudalenka and Anatol Paplauny, the members of the Homel branch of the human rights center Viasna, which is to be held in Homel on March 17, the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders (France) issued a special appeal, Radio Svaboda reports.
It contains an appeal to stop the persecution of human rights defenders and is addressed to the representatives of the Belarusian authorities – Lukashenka, the Prosecutor General, the Minister of Justice, the Chairman of the Supreme Court and the Chairman of the Tsentralny district court of Homel, as well as to the heads of the permanent mission of Belarus to the UN in Geneva and the Belarusian Embassy in Brussels.
"Thanks, of course, for attention to my humble person. I have always believed that solidarity is a huge force. Anatol Paplauny and I, like all the other activists, took part in the "March of Non-Parasites", we didn't violate public order, we did so as a sign of solidarity with the townspeople – they defend their right to work and decent wages, to freedom of peaceful assembly and expression. I personally helped citizens to write about 200 complaints about the demands of the authorities to pay the "parasit" tax," – Leanid Sudalenka said.
