Mahiliou Teachers Are Forced To Seek “Parasites”

They have to visit apartments before Friday 24 March.

From Monday, teachers in all the city's schools got the list of unemployed, whom the tax inspectorate had classified as "parasites", the newspaper Mogilyovski Region reports.

Each list contains 40 last names on average with addresses of residence of those people. The teachers have to visit the apartments within the area of their responsibility before Friday 24 March. School administrations give no explanations to the teachers, the principals issue instructions with the reference to the order from the above agencies. It is believed that teachers know better than others, who lives in the sleeping areas near the school, since they already had to get acquainted with the families of their students.

Visits to the apartments have already caused several conflict situations. For example, volunteer Veranika Tsedrik, who got into the list of "parasites" because she was in Poland for five months in 2015, was struck by the fact that third party got private information from the tax inspection. She says that the teachers are angry with a new "duty" and do not particularly care about keeping secrecy. Meanwhile, during such visits five questions are been clarified: what kind of education the potential "parasite" has, what his or her general experience of work is; what his last place of work is; whether the person is working now and if not, why; if the unemployed is registered with the employment service.

The teachers, caught by "parasites" in the entrance halls, complain that apart from falsifying the "elections" they are forcibly involved in hunting for the unemployed. However, they cannot refuse, in order not to lose their job.

Earlier, Lukashenka said that officials would personally go around the houses to get acquainted with the real state of things in the families of the unemployed, but as a result the most unprotected part of state employees was forced to deal with it.
