Minskers To Government: You Are Fired!

A creative action took place near the Independence Palace of Minsk.

The activists of “Poszuh” glued posters with the image of the House of Government at the background, and the quotations from the Labour Code of the Republic of Belarus written over it, alongside with the most frequent question and wish of the Belarusian people to the government – “Do you cope with your official duties?” and “You are Fired!”, in the pedestrian subway near the Independence Palace in Minsk.

The activists have informed this in their vk.com community.

“The sorest spot which is under discussion in the Belarusian society is the Decree #3, more commonly known as “social parasites” Decree, which is absolutely anti-constitutional and anti-people by its essence. The main thing is they try to present the Belarusian people as drones and fools; those, who grow rich and sit in the offices at our expense. Those who seem to have forgotten that they are only the employees of the people, and we can ask them to leave the occupied positions in case of their non-compliance with the requirements we set before them. The officials must leave their offices if they fail to cope with their duties.

The authorities did nothing but tortured us in the latest years:

The retirement age has been risen. The working record necessary for retirement was increased, without taking into account the time spent on taking care of children, studying and serving in the army.

The lack of pluralism led to an obvious political crisis.

The budget is replenished by fines, punishments, confiscations, violations of property rights. The hideous “social parasites” decree has become the zenith of the government’s stupidity. They are trying to take fines even from the dead, which is an absurdity in itself. As reported by Head of the Chief Administration of Justice Valiantsin Makarevich at a briefing in Homel region executive committee, the distrain of property of those who didn’t pay the “social parasites” tax may start since July 1. They will probably start seizing the coffins from the dead! All the decisions of the government are aimed against the people.

The tariffs for the communal services are growing from year to year. The pensions of the old people are barely enough to cover the communal services payments. The GDP has dropped by 2,7% in 9 months, the export of goods dropped by 15%.

The government has failed to find investors, has not created new jobs, and this problem is especially acute in the regions. The salary has decreased, but the work has become much more intensive. For all the failures of the government, for its total incompetence, the people are again paying with their own well-being.

The population was promised growth in real incomes, but in reality they received an unprecedentedly high drop- by 7.3%, in January-October 2016. For the year, inventories increased by almost 400 million rubles, to a total of 3,74 billion rubles.

The International Confederation of Trade Unions published the Global Index on Workers' Rights for 2016. The International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) ranked Belarus among the countries where there are no guarantees of workers' rights. This is stated in the Global Report of the ITUC on the Rights of Workers for 2016.

The authorities continue to insist that the crisis is temporary, but the same people, the same structures that led Belarus into the crisis, are engaged in the exit from it. Those who do not have any work motivation, whose selfish and local interests prevail. While maintaining a strong centralization of political and economic power, Belarus is doomed to repeat the fate of the USSR in miniature. This is an obvious fact.

Just ask yourself a question, at whose expense the officials build themselves country-houses and residences, fly over the country in helicopters and planes, and send their children-idlers on vacations? At whose expense did the self-proclaimed elite revive the serfdom, and whom did they place a yoke around the necks to suck the last drops of blood from their people for their bohemian lifestyle? Isn’t it the right moment to understand that the time of the feudal lords and tsars has passed, isn’t it high time to remind them what happens to scoundrels who "got too fat"?

Fight for your rights!”, - the organizers of the action have written.
