Is There Provocation Against Leader Of People's Protests In Brest?

Natallia Papkova was detained for an unknown reason.

Mikalai Statkevich, one of the leaders of the Belarusian National Congress, wrote about this on Facebook.

“Special forces in Brest go on trying to break the spirit of Natallia Papkova, the new leader of the democratic forces of the city and the region. Over the recent weeks, they have already put the courageous girl under administrative arrests several times, they fined her and even took her forcibly to "psychiatric hospital," - the politician wrote.

As it became known, the police detained Natallia again yesterday. She is in the Leninski district police department of Brest now. Natallia Papkova’s friends report that a provocation was organized against her.

“We are closely following the situation and will do everything possible to protect Natalia,” –Mikalai Statkevich added.

“Natallia Papkova called, she said that she was being taken to the Leninski district department of internal affairs. Allegedly, she had crossed the road not at the pedestrian crossing. Four hours passed, Natallia's phone is out of reach," – Lyudmila Zakharanka, an activist from Brest said.

Employees of the police department confirmed that Natallia was kept in their detention center and that the next day she was to be tried by an administrative article. They refused to reveal the article.
