The Administration of Lithuania’s Civil Aviation commented on the incident.

The light aircraft P46T, manned by a Danish citizen, flew from Vilnius airport and violated Belarus’s air space last week, the heads of the Lithuanian enterprises Oro navigacija and the Administration of the Civil Aviation informed on Monday, delfi.lt reports.

According to the Belarusian servicemen, the violation of the state border from the side of the Republic of Lithuania was recorded at 1.40 p.m. on April 19.

The Belarusian Ministry of Defense reported that the military men detected a light aircraft which was heading towards the border with Belarus. The Lithuanian side was informed about the possible violation of the border by the said aircraft, but the plane continued its flight and entered the airspace of Belarus.

The aircraft deepened into the territory of Belarus at a distance of up to 8 km at 1.43 a.m., and then, having made a U-turn, went beyond the country’s airspace.

On April 22, the Foreign Ministry of Belarus called the ambassador of Lithuania Andrius Pulokas. He was handed a note in which the Belarusian side expressed the protest in connection with the recorded fact of violation of the state border of the Republic of Belarus by the Lithuanian aircraft. As emphasized in the note of the Foreign Ministry, Minsk expects an explanation for the incident.
