Authorities Take Revenge On Rebellious Krychau Police Officers

One more police officer, who complained about his bosses, was fired from the District Office of Internal Affairs in Krychau.

One more employee, who signed a letter to the Minister of Internal Affairs, containing complaints about "multiple power abuses" performed by the bosses, was fired from the District Office of Internal Affairs in Krychau, tut.by reports.

One of those who signed the collective appeal to the Minister – Major Yury Dzubanau – was fired for "gross violation of official discipline" in April. Now the second – the district police inspector Andrei Shashkou – was also fired.

"They sacked me for violating the terms of the contract and the rules of professional ethics," - Andrei Shashkou said and stressed that he would appeal this decision.

Another signatory, head of the Law Enforcement and Prevention Department of the District Office of Internal Affairs Lieutenant Colonel Ihar Vusik filed a letter of resignation on May 3. However, he said that the decision on him had not been made yet.

We remind that the Krychau police department collectively addressed a letter to the Minister of Internal Affairs, in which they stated that their rights were violated. The policemen asked to conduct a check in respect of the leadership of the District Office of Internal Affairs "in connection with numerous abuses".

The policemen wrote to Shunevich that the head allowed himself obscene insults in respect of his subordinates, he had a grudge against the district inspectors. The system of rewards and punishments was unfair.

The Mahiliou Internal Affairs Directorate started to study the complaints of Krychau policemen. However, the department warned: if there were signs of slander, the employees, who had spread it, would be brought not only to the disciplinary liability, but also to the criminal one. The Internal Affairs Directorate believes that Vusik "has initiated several collective complaints addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs in an effort to avoid responsibility and attach importance to his person." They clarified: some shortcomings had been revealed in the department headed by Vusik, which "had not been eliminated and had a systemic nature."

Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus Ihar Shunevich said that the official check on the situation in the Krychau District Internal Affairs Department had been completed. "As a result, we have found a violation of discipline and departmental regulations both on the part of the district department head, and on the part of the complainant (probably, Ihar Vusik - note), who was a figurant of this check," the ministry’s website informed. As a result, they both were brought to the disciplinary responsibility. In addition, another official check was appointed on the fact of dissemination of information in the media "with violations of the internal regulations requirements of the Ministry of Internal Affairs."

Lieutenant-Colonel Ihar Vusik was bumped from his duties for the duration of the inspection and expelled from the membership of the Officer Assembly.

According to Vusik, on 11 May, he and district inspector Andrei Shashkou were made aware of the results of the internal audit conducted by the Mahiliou Internal Affairs Directorate. They were accused of violating professional ethics.
