The leaders of the popular protests have been released after the 15-day administrative detention.

Co-Chairman of the steering committee for creating the party Belarusian Christian Democracy Pavel Seviarynets and coordinator of the civil campaign “European Belarus” Maxim Viniarski have been released after the 15-day administrative detention. The leaders of the popular protests were detained after the May Day protest action.

The activists were met by relatives, friends and allies near the Akrestsin Street detention center: Pavel Seviarynets’ wife Volha Seviarynets, the “European Belarus” activist Leanid Kulakou, Co-Chairman of the steering committee for creating the party Belarusian Christian Democracy Vital Rymasheuski, Chairman of the movement “For Freedom” Yury Hubarevich, Chairman of the BPF party Aliaksei Yanukevich, the BCD activist Volha Kavalkova, opposition activists Dzianis Sadouski, Natallia Bordak, Natallia Samatyja, Yury Lukashevich, Aliaksei Shein, Barys Haretski and others, Novy Chas informs.

Pavel Seviarynets and Maxim Viniarsky told that the detention center’s administration was especially striving to create unbearable conditions for them in the Akrestsin Street: the cells were overcrowded, they often put in the cell homeless people, dirty, with lice. Took away the pen, did not give paper. During the arrest, Maxim Viniarski went on a hunger strike - today was its last day. Viachaslau Siuchyk, who remains behind the bars, continues the hunger-strike.

Pavel Seviarynets and Maxim Viniarski were detained after the end of the peaceful May Day action, when they were almost at home. Detention occurred with violations of the Administrative Code. The next day, the Central district court found the activists “guilty” under Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code (violation of the procedure of organizing mass events) and punished with 15 days of administrative detention.
