Yauhen Paltarzhytski No Longer Held In Custody
YAUHEN PALTARZHYTSKI

The pre-trial measure with regard to the defendant in the “White Legion” case has been changed for house arrest.

Defendant in the “mass riots preparation” case Yauhen Paltarzhytski was placed under house arrest instead of being held in custody.

According to the information provided by the HR center “Viasna”, the pre-trial measure with regard to Yauhen Paltarzhytski was changed in the evening on May 19. Before this, he had been held in the KGB prison.

Important to note, Paltarzhytski, a historian by education, who is claimed to be a member of the no longer existing organization “White Legion”, was arrested on March 21. On March 30, he was officially charged under Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code, and in the 20s of April he was additionally charged under Article 287 of the Criminal Code.

Thus, 16 people remain in custody in the remand prisons in Minsk, the “Amerikanka” and the “Valadarka”. They all are charged with “mass riots preparation”, and only one of them – Siarhei Kuntsevich – is not mentioned in the case on creating of illegal armed groups, which was initiated later.
