‘Minskenergo’ Chief Procurement Officer Arrested

A criminal case was initiated against the head of the material and technical supply department of RUE Minskenergo.

The cause for the initiation of the case was the materials of the pre-investigation check conducted by the employees of the Interior Ministry's Economic-Crimes Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee. It was established that, on May 17 of this year, the official received a bribe from the manager of one of the limited liability companies in the amount of $ 500, BelTA was informed in the Minsk department of the Investigatory Committee.

The illegal money reward to the suspect was intended for giving instructions, obligatory to follow, to the subordinates. This was to help the organization win in the two procurement procedures conducted by the Minskenergo, and lead to the conclusion of a supply contract with LLC.

The investigation is checking the information on the involvement of the department head in committing other episodes of unlawful activity during his work at the said position. The actions of an official are qualified by the investigation under Part 1 of Art. 430 (bribe taking) of the Criminal Code. The suspect was subjected to a preventive measure in the form of detention.
