What Pupils Are To do While Kolia Sleeps

The Ministry of Education has informed about what will happen in schools before the beginning of classes at 9 am.

Prior to the beginning of school hours at 9 am, the children, who come earlier, can have electives, creative classes, warm-ups, class hours and the opportunity to finish homework. The educational institution administration will decide on how to make the most of this time. Press-secretary of the Ministry of Education Liudzmila Vysotskaya has told about it, tut.by reports.

Let us remind, that although the classes will begin at 9 am, schools will be open from 8 o'clock to make it convenient for parents who need to be at work early. Teachers will look after the children before the lessons begin.

– School administrations will decide and then adjust their schedule to make children spend quality time. For example, children can finish homework at this time, – she said.

As for the shortening of intervals between the classes, the representative of the Ministry of Education stressed that that was the most suitable option, so that the lessons did not end late.

– To make it possible for children to attend musical schools and hobby clubs the optimal option will be to shorten intervals between classes by 5 minutes. This doesn't influence anything. The interval between the first and second shift will be 15 minutes instead of 20, intervals between classes will be 10 minutes. They can make big intervals of 15 minutes after second and third class instead of one big interval.

According to her, the proposed changes will reduce the duration of the intervals between classes by 30 minutes. That is, the classes will end as if they started at 8:30 in the morning.

The interlocutor noted that the Ministry received many appeals from parents because the classes will start at 9am. Some of them also contained proposition to shorten the intervals.

We remind, that on May 12 Lukashenka instructed to review school schedules. "There's no need to start classes before 9 am," – the dictator said.

After that, many schools started to think over the new schedule which will be valid from September 1. Schools working in two shifts are considering the option to start classes at 8.30 or 9.00, schools working in one shift - from 9.00.
