Blogger Aleh Zhaunou: They Constantly Put My Son In Punitive Isolation Cell
IN THE LEFT — ALIAKSEI ZHAUNOU (MILIUKOU), IN THE RIGHT — HIS FATER ALEH ZHAUNOU

The activist experiences a constant feeling of hunger because of the meager prison food.

Well-known Bobruisk blogger Aleh Zhaunou became aware of the confinement conditions under which his son Aliaksei is serving his sentence in the penal colony # 9 in Horki. According to him, the political prisoner is regularly placed in the punitive isolation cell (he spent more than a month there), is not allowed visits from relatives. During the conversations with the lawyer (through the glass), the staff of the colony’s administration are nearby. For the complaint about the lack of confidentiality in such a conversation, Aliaksei was immediately sentenced to seven days in in the punitive isolation cell, babruisk.by writes.

Also, because of the meager prison food, he experiences a constant feeling of hunger, and he is not allowed to buy food in the prison shop ...

In the colony, the prisoner of conscience is on the preventive account - allegedly as prone to aggression, hostage-taking and hooliganism. It is clear that this "status" was "appointed" to the prisoner, in order to "legitimize" the repression against him.

Blogger Aleh Zhaunou is convinced that the condemnation of his son is revenge on him as a father - for the independent blogging activities, for the fact that he repeatedly filmed and posted on YouTube videos, the main actors in which were officials of the police department - violators of the law.

Aliaksei is to be released on October 28.
